FAST Data Center Storage and Compute Cluster FAQs
1、SSH login failed with “Permission denied(publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic)”
（1）Check that your private key matches the public key registered with your user-account application, and that the private key has been ssh-add’ed in the case ssh-agent is being used.
（2）Check that your ssh credentials on the cluster are NOT accessible by group and others. “chmod 0770 $HOME” is a common mistake and should be avoided in all cases. Contact the FAST Data Center if you have no open session, and therefore cannot resolve this problem by yourself.
Use POSIX ACL to grant others access to your files if necessary.
2、”Permission denied” reading authorized project data
Check that you are in the corresponding project group with the “id” command. Authorization applied by the FAST Data Center during an active session takes effect only after re-login.
For users authorized to access more than 16 projects, it may be necessary to switch groups explicitly. To read the data for project 3045, e.g., Please --sg - F3045 before trying to access the data under “/data31/3045”.
3、“Resource temporarily unavailable” running programs on mu01, or “No child processes” error logging in to mu01.
Both problems are caused by exceeding the maximum number of processes on mu01. The management node mu01 is not for compute tasks. Please submit jobs using the Portable Batch System (PBS). Contact the FAST Data Center if you have no open session, and therefore cannot resolve this problem by yourself.
4、HOWTO: GUI on the FAST cluster
X Forwarding is disabled due to security vulnerabilities and serious performance issues on the Internet due to its sensitivity to network latency. Users in need of GUI operation can submit a password-protected vncserver job to the cu_slim queue. VNC sessions unprotected by a password is likely to leak the results of your research to other users on the same intranet. Please consider this warning seriously.
